SD-0124 HYLO BROWNLovesick and Sorrow

Hylo Brown was one of the best performers from the golden age of bluegrass music. He began writing songs and recording in the 1950s and he starred on radio, television, and on numerous public performances. For a period of time, he was a featured part of the Flatt & Scruggs show. One of his songs - “The Grand Ole Opry Song” (as sung by Jimmy Martin) - was the lead track on the multi-million selling Will The Circle Be Unbroken collection by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Hylo signed with Starday Records in 1961 where he recorded a series of four albums. Appearing with him on these tracks was a host of great pickers including Josh Graves, Shot Jackson, Curtis McPeak, Joe Drumright, Chubby Wise, Roy Huskey, and the Lonesome Pine Fiddlers. Great songs, super pickers, and wonderful singing make this a truly memorable bluegrass classic!
