KSCD-0123 • BUZZ BUSBYGoing Home

This CD gathers for the first time the complete body of songs and tunes that Buzz Busby recorded for Starday Records from 1957 through 1959. Included are tracks released under his own name, several previously unissued tracks, and several selections that he appeared on with other artists such as Bill Emerson & John Hall and Bill Harrell. Grand Ole Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs characterizes his recordings as follows: “Buzz Busby and the Bayou Boys on Starday Records represent the high lonesome sound of bluegrass at its absolute highest level of intensity. No one...ever recorded anything with more passionate heart, soul, and pain than “Lonesome Wind,” “Cold And Windy Night,” and “Where Will This End.” When it comes to this style of bluegrass, this is as good as it will ever be done.” Marty Stuart adds, “Buzz Buzby and the Bayou Boys are the poster boys for that old song “The Wicked Path of Sin.” Their music comes from the darkest regions of the soul. It personifies the high lonesome sound of bluegrass. They scream with terror as they cry out from the depths of the unknown. It is the most wicked bluegrass music ever made this side of heaven.”
