CC-0228 • Tom, Brad & Alice • Carve That Possum |
The respected trio of Tom Sauber, Brad Leftwich, and Alice Gerrard (known collectively as Tom, Brad & Alice) have released their fourth recording together. Sauber is a gifted multi-instrumentalist from California who has been on the music scene for 30+ years. Leftwich is an equally adept old-time fiddler who learned his music in the southern Appalachian and Ozark Mountains. Gerrard makes her home in North Carolina where she founded the esteemed Old-Time Herald publication. She has worked in various configurations over the years including a legendary partnership with Hazel Dickens. In addition to her recordings with Tom, Brad & Alice, she has two solo recordings on Copper Creek. On this latest recording, the trio has culled 18 songs from a variety of sources and imprinted them with their own distinctive TBA stamp. The trio offers an engaging program that includes old-time versions of bluegrass classics, fiddle & banjo instrumentals, unaccompanied ballads, rollicking songs and tunes, and a lovely guitar-driven gospel gem. An enjoyable and delightful listening experience from start to finish, this is their finest recording to date! Be sure to check their web site: www.tombradalice.com. |
