Field Guide the latest hard-driving album by John Reischman and the Jaybirds and it is an impressive and energetic follow-up to the band’s sparkling debut recording. Heralded by Acoustic Guitar Magazine, the Jaybirds are “Top-notch musicians and singers [who] deliver an unusual repertoire of originals, bluegrass classics, and old-time music.” Tim Stafford, the guitarist with the bluegrass super-group Blue Highway, notes, “What emerges from this recording is a unique band sound in bluegrass, one decidedly traditional yet comfortable with original material ... there’s not a reason in the world you shouldn’t love Field Guide. With eight powerful band originals and a combination of vintage gems, original vocal songs, and the Jaybirds’ trademark original instrumentals variously bluesy, hard-edged and haunting, Field Guide is dynamic and refreshing experience. |
