CC-0117 • Creek Bend • That Home Far Away |
One doesn’t usually think of upstate New York as a spawning ground for bluegrass music. However, this area has seen the birth and demise of quite a few bands over the years. Creek Bend is a band from the Buffalo area with several solid years under its belt. They are steeped in tradition but traverse a wide stretch of musical territory. They owe a debt to traditional bands like the Stanley Brothers (“Going To The Races,” “That Home Far Away,” “Home In The Mountains”) and the Louvin Brothers (“Are You Wasting My Time?”). Contemporary tunes are represented as well, with songs like James Taylor’s “Bartender’s Blues.” |
